Winged Things Pocket Letter

{Mini 3 pocket Pocket Letter}

Hello all!
Yes, it's me...have to confess I don't get to post as much as I'd like these days {months...lol} but real life has been very busy. That's a good thing though, right? Yes it is....making memories with family and friends will always take precedent for me. :) Speaking of friends, I enjoy my "virtual" friends as much as I do those "in real life." I have developed lasting friendships with several of my pals at Pocket Letter Pals, here in the US and abroad, and I love to swap happy mail with them. Back in January I swapped a "winged things" pocket letter with a pal and I'm finally getting around to posting my 3D pocket letter. I did share a sneak peek of it on my Instagram page @lisasnowdy  but here's the full reveal. This one was a fave of mine because I look forward to the return of butterflies and hummingbirds every spring!

I love the color scheme of Graphic 45's Botanical Tea and the paper collection was perfect as it includes both of my "winged things."

The pretty pleated ribbon at the top was gifted to me a long time ago by a sweet friend, Jeanne Jachna. It's from Stamping Up and I enjoy using it so much, adds a special touch in my opinion. I also added pearl bling to the ribbon and to the pretty punched {MS} butterflies. I cut another hummingbird from a second sheet and layered it on top for a dimensional effect. The paper roses are by Prima and they were the perfect shade of pink and blue.

A wood butterfly was added to a fussy cut butterfly from the paper collection and a twine bow was tied. Glitter alpha stickers spell out "4 Ina" and that's my pals name. She is so sweet! I added chipboard pieces also from the collection and die cut a scroll from Tim's Movesr and Shapers die.

To the spine I added some ephemera and recorded the swap theme and date. A pretty hummingbird chipboard piece and blue/white twine finish it off.

This was such fun to make and I'm so happy that my pal loved it!
I'm off to write another blog post to share with you tomorrow of more outgoing pl's I created earlier this year. If I keep this up maybe they'll all make it here before the year is over. ;)

Have a great day, wherever you are!

Egg Carrier Set

We are celebrating Easter a little early on The Cutting Cafe blog today with a variety of design team projects. I asked to work with Regina's fabulous Egg Carrier Set and this is the first of three I am making this month. I'll share the other two once my friends receive them. I plan to fill this one with small cupcake liners and fill  each one with candy for my chocaholic friends. :)

The Cutting Cafe

For this Egg Carrier Set, as I mentioned above, I plan to use it to gift Easter candy so I doubled the handle by adhering the two pieces together for extra strength. The file provides two equal lengths with you can use alone, join together or double as I've done. There are also two sections of fence, a bottom box and top box in this file. It is easy to put together so when cutting my pieces I decided to make three of these and this will be how I gift my Easter happies this year. :) I decorated the outside of the box with wood laser cuts from Target's dollar spot, added one pink paper leaf from my stash and some pearl bling to the pretty butterfly. Striped ribbon tied in a bow was added to each end and completes it.

I hope you'll give this file a try and as always Regina includes various styles for you to choose from. Here is the single egg carrier she made and I love the way she decorated it.

Candy Jar

{macaroon photos courtesy of Lisa M. Pace}

Who wouldn't enjoy a candy jar full of delicious, homemade macaroons?
I'd like to thank my FB pal, Lisa M. Pace, for allowing me to use photos of her fresh baked macaroons. I can't say that I've ever eaten one {much less baked one} but hers are so pretty they inspire me to. :) I placed the macaroons inside a candy jar from the Fun with Jars Printable Set by The Cutting Cafe. This is a fabulous file with various jar designs for creating sweet cards and treats.

Some of the jar selections included with this file.

There are several sentiments to choose from in this set but I used one from the set below. To see the entire file click on the link above.

Have a wonderful, creative day!

E, F and G at ABC Christmas Challenge

We have a brand new challenge at ABC Christmas Challenge that runs the entire month of March. We are on the letters E, F and G and you have the choice to play along with all three letters or combine them as I did on my card.

E is for Edge
F is for Family
G is for Girl

Prize is a gift certificate to their online store.

Helen is hosting this challenge and she is also offering a prize.

Set of Sizzix Dies

My edge is snowbanks created from a My Favorite Things die and my family is from the Taylored Expressions stamp set-Penguin Pals.

I colored my background with distress inks and added my heavy snowfall scene by diluting gesso with water then splattering with a paintbrush. The images were stamped with black Archival ink then colored with my new Faber-Castell Polychromos Pencils which were gifted to me by my dear friend, Katrin. It is my first experience coloring with them and they're awesome! Thank you for sharing those with me sweetie. :) I love snowy scenes and I created some dimension between my snowbanks with Scotch foam tape. For a little sparkle I added glitter and subtle shading was applied with Copic markers.

We look forward to seeing your creations. To see more inspiration for our E, F and G challenge visit the link above and check out what my design team mates created.

Before I close today I'd like to share that on the 22nd of February my mother went home to be with the Lord. I will miss her but I am grateful that her battle with Alzheimer's on this earth is over. It is a disease I would not wish on anyone. I pray for those who suffer with this disease and for the families affected by it. May God bless and comfort each of you!

Thank you for your visit today, it means a lot.
