Tool Time card for Father's Day

My design team card for The Cutting Cafe features two awesome files.

and

At my daughter's request I created a card with special meaning for her dad. When she was a teenager she asked her dad to make a platform bed with a headboard and an upright bookshelf for her room. He did and it turned out amazing! Then the summer before she started college she asked him once again to make a platform bed but this one had a twist. She wanted the mattress in an enclosed box with legs and wanted to incorporate my vintage headboard as her new headboard. Again, the project turned out amazing but he officially declared himself out of the furniture making business. Not so fast, summer of 2015 she asked him to add something to her bedroom ensemble. She showed him this photo of Hazel Grace's bedroom from the movie The Fault in Our Stars.

It took a while but she convinced him to come out of furniture making retirement. :) When the temps cooled last fall he started building his biggest project yet. I say biggest because in real life it's huge and had to be assembled in pieces. It will house her large library of books plus mementos from our travels. She loves it and it looks amazing!

Her custom built nightstands with bookshelves.

They worked on the measurements and design for weeks and this is the finished project. She's been arranging and re-arranging each shelf and hopefully she'll have it finished soon. She's going to hang the landscape canvas in the middle above her bed and then we'll have to add some twinkle lights. :)

Here's what the inside of the card looks like.

It uses another layer in the Father's Day Word Shaped Card Template and Cutting File that is one piece. For the front I cut out the individual letters then glued in place and used a black gel pen to add micro dots to the letters. I added the tools from the Tool Time Set to the inside as well as the outside.

This is a free design team post meaning Regina gave us the freedom to create whatever we wanted. You can see the DT inspiration post tomorrow, the 7th, here on TCC's blog.
